“T + L 500” recognizes Fairmont Mara Safari Club as One of the World’s Leading Hotels
Toronto (February 17, 2011) – Travel + Leisure magazine, a trusted source for luxury travelers worldwide, has recognized 14 Fairmont properties among its prestigious “T+L 500” list of top hotels for 2011. London’s The Savoy was among the properties included in the annual ranking of World’s Best Hotels, returning to the list after a 3-year, £220 million restoration.
“We are thrilled to once again have so many properties included on this list of outstanding hotels,” said Brian Richardson, Vice President, Brand Marketing & Communications. “We’re honored that readers consider our hotels not only some of the best in their respective regions, but among the top 500 in the world.”
T+L readers were especially impressed with Fairmont’s Kenya collection this year, with all three properties ranked as among the best in the Africa + Middle East region. Fairmont Mara Safari Club was ranked best in the region and third best in the world with a score of 96,31 out of 100, while Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and Fairmont The Norfolk, Nairobi also scored highly on the list. In London, The Savoy earned high praise in the Europe category, while Fairmont Mayakoba in Mexico’s Riviera Maya was included on the list of top hotels in Latin America.
The brand also had a strong showing in North America, with 4 properties in Canada and 5 in the U.S. making the list. Honorees included Fairmont San Francisco; Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, Santa Monica; Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui; The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle; and The Plaza in New York. In Canada, The Fairmont Banff Springs, Alberta; Fairmont Empress, Victoria; Fairmont Chateau Whistler; and Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Quebec City were also included.
Made up of the 500 properties receiving the highest rankings in Travel + Leisure’s annual “World’s Best Awards” reader survey, the full list of hotels can be found at www.travelandleisure.com/tl500/2011.
